Diabetes Management

August 22, 2019

Diabetes is becoming one of the leading causes of death among Americans, and cases of this disease are growing at an alarming rate. Diabetes literally has become a modern-day, silent epidemic. More than 29.1 million Americans are estimated to have diabetes, with many of these cases going undiagnosed.

Diabetes is a disease that affects the body’s ability to utilize glucose (sugar) for energy. We currently recognize two types of diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body produces either low levels of insulin or no insulin at all. Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas, is necessary for the regulation of the glucose we ingest in our diet. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, and develops over time. In type 2 diabetes, the body does not use insulin effectively to regulate glucose levels, which results in a condition known as insulin resistance.

The critical first step in addressing diabetes is changing to a lifestyle of more exercise to use excess glucose taken in, a healthy diet to minimize the intake of glucose taken in, and frequent (but small) meals to minimize the development of insulin resistance. The goal in preventing diabetes is to address rising fasting glucose levels long before they reach 100 mg/dL. To do that, there are a number of nutritional and herbal supplements that have been shown to be helpful in regulating glucose and addressing problems before they start.

Hazle Health’s brand of Alpha Lipoic Acid is a unique antioxidant that has been shown to be helpful in maintaining blood sugar levels and minimizing some of the neurological side effects of diabetes, such as diabetic neuropathy. Berberine, which is found in our Hazle Health Berberine Support product, has been shown to regulate not only glucose levels, but modulate lipid levels as well. Chromium and zinc have been shown to be essential minerals in helping manage blood sugar and support insulin production. Hazle Health’s brand of Diabetes Balance is a unique formulation that features a wide array of natural products that have been shown to regulate blood glucose levels and keep them from elevating.

Ever Tried to Get a Cat to Swallow a Pill?

March 21, 2019

If so, you know giving medicine to animals can be a real challenge! Animals often have variations of the same diseases’ humans can have, including skin rashes, eye and ear infections, heart conditions, cancer, and diabetes. Medicating pets presents unique problems that often are best dealt with through compounding.

As any pet owner is well aware, animals can be extremely difficult to treat with medications. Cats are notorious for refusing to swallow pills, and usually will eat right around one disguised in food. Dosages can be very tricky with dogs- a dose of medication that works for an 80-pound Golden Retriever may be far too much for a 6-pound Yorkie to handle. Large and exotic pets, such as horses, rabbits, birds, ferrets, and reptiles, pose many unique medication challenges. Hazle Compounding’s specialty compounding pharmacists are equipped to help them all.

The pet who refuses to take medications because of the taste is a prime opportunity for compounding. Cats don’t like pills, but they do like tuna. Dogs don’t appreciate a traditional solution of medication being squirted into their mouth, but they’ll take it gladly when it’s flavored with meat or part of a tasty treat. Birds cannot take large volumes of liquid medication, but they will accept a small dose of a tasty, fruit-flavored, concentrated solution.

Just like their owners, animals are individual and unique. They come in different shapes and sizes, and may be sensitive to ingredients like lactose. As a result, not all commercially available medicines are appropriate for every pet. That’s where compounding is especially helpful. In this situation, your veterinarian can prescribe a flavored liquid, treat, or other dosage form with the amount of medication that is exactly right for your pet’s size and condition.

From time to time, a manufacturer may discontinue a veterinary medication. Often this is because it is not needed in the vast quantities necessary to make mass production cost effective, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some pets that need it. When that medication has worked well for animals, Hazle Compounding’s nationally recognized specialty compounding pharmacists can prepare a prescription for the discontinued product and tailor the strength, dosage form, and flavor to that pet’s specific needs, visit https://www.opaortho.com/xanax-treating-anxiety/.

As a pet owner, you want your pet to receive the highest-quality veterinary care. You want them to have treatment as sophisticated and compassionate as you might receive yourself. You’re not alone. Today’s veterinarians realize that pet owners are very knowledgeable, and expect a more advanced level of care.

Adding Years To Our Lives and Life To Our Years

August 21, 2018

One of the most popular areas of medicine today is anti-aging medicine, or as it is often referred to, functional medicine. Anti-aging/functional medicine attempts to keep individuals healthy and functioning regardless of their age. Most of us want to live as long as we possibly can. However, do we want to add years to our life, or life to our years? Life is an accumulation of thousands of events and decisions. The small decisions that we make every hour of every day can impact the quality of our life for years to come. As Americans, we plan for so many occurrences in life. But few of us plan for our inevitable aging.

The overall goal of any anti-aging supplement is the prevention of disease and the maintenance of overall health. Preventing a medical condition is far easier than treating one. Anti-aging/functional medicine attempts to prevent underlying causes of aging, and thereby, alleviate or reduce age-related problems.

Omega-3 essential fatty acids, such as Hazle Health’s brand of High Potency Omega 3 is a must for anti-aging. These fatty acids act as anti-inflammatory agents in our body, thereby protecting our joints, brain, skin, respiratory tract, and intestinal tract, and help to develop proper cell wall structure.

Valium is sold in the form of injection solutions and pills. 1 ml of solution contains 5 mg of diazepam. Such medicines are available in the amount of 50 or 10 ampoules made of dark glass. Each of them includes2 ml of solution. Ampoules are placed in cartons. The pills contain 5 or 10 mg of diazepam. You can buy it on https://www.opaortho.com/valium-treatment-anxiety/.

The nutrient combination found in Hazle Health’s Hair, Skin and Nails is another powerful tool that provides the daily nutrients to encourage a beautiful outside by first nutritionally protecting our insides from the ravages of time.

Additional supplements that are used in Anti-Aging include Hazle health’s Acetyl-C-Carnitine, Anti-Oxidant Essentials with Vitamins C & E, DHEA sublingual spray and Grape Seed Extract to name a few.
