Weight Loss Compounding FAQs

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist that has been used in helping patients with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar for several years. It is marketed as the injectable known as Ozempic® and as an oral tablet as Rybelsus®. The FDA recently added an additional indication to the drug, allowing it to help patients battling chronic weight management. Hazle Compounding Pharmacy has formulated a compounded liquid sublingual (under the tongue) form of this drug to increase bioavailability and to increase absorption therefore leading to and maintaining weight loss.

Yes. All compounded medications are available by prescription only from your physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant. Before considering Semaglutide, it is important to talk with your healthcare provider to see if it is the right choice for your individual health needs.
Compounded Sublingual Semaglutide is being compounded using crushed Rybelsus® tablets to obtain the Semaglutide. Rybelsus® is a registered trademark of Novo Nordisk.

Sublingual Semaglutide works to reduce appetite and hunger. It will also slow down the speed of food leaving the stomach and will increase the feeling of fullness.

The sublingual dosage form of Semaglutide is safer and easier than injections and is dosed under the tongue. It is cost effective with no prior authorization or insurance needed.

The dosage may vary per patient. Starting dosage is 0.3 mg (0.3ml) to 0.5mg (0.5ml) under the tongue once daily (hold for at least 90 seconds). After a few days increase to 1mg (1ml) once daily. Consult your provider or Hazle Compounding if not sure of when to increase your dose.

The longer the medication is held under the tongue, the better the absorption. Hold under the tongue for at least 90 seconds. 2-3 minutes or longer is even better to help the medication absorb into the blood stream. Do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes. It is very important to understand that this specialty compound is just one of the components to a successful weight loss program. How Does Compounding Work?

01. Consultation

Prescribers can phone/fax/E-prescribe specialty compounded prescriptions to Hazle Compounding. If the prescriber would like, patients could undergo a personal consultation with our compounding pharmacists to start this process. This is a critical phase where you can discuss your specific health needs, concerns, and goals. Our team listens attentively to understand your unique situation, ensuring that the compounding process aligns precisely with your healthcare requirements. After talking to the patient, we can work with your health care provider to provide a personalized treatment option tailored to your individual needs. All compounded products are only available through a prescription by a license provider.

02. Prescription and Assessment

Following the consultation, a prescription tailored to your specific needs is required. Our pharmacists assess this prescription, considering your medical history, current medications, and any allergies.
